The Garden City Board of Trustees on June 10 adopted Resolution No. 65-2026 to award the municipal yard masonry, façade and door-and-lintel replacement project to Al-Ghazali Construction, LLC, the low bidder, at a contract price of $198,070. The resolution passed with an 8–0 vote.
The board also authorized a range of capital and emergency actions to maintain village operations. Trustees approved a $15,454.48 proposal from Denis O’Regan Electric, Inc. for additional electrical work necessary to install and operate a new HVAC system at the Old Water Works Building, and accepted a $27,600 proposal from H2M Architects & Engineers to prepare the NYSDEC permit renewal package for Well No. 16. The board further authorized the use of AC Schultes through a piggyback contract for emergency repairs to Well No. 7, which failed and must be dismantled and inspected to determine whether the cause was a pump, line shaft or motor issue.
On procurement for public safety and operations, trustees ratified the preexisting purchase of three police vehicles from Van Bortel Ford at a cost of $171,236.26 to secure 2026 model-year pricing. The board also approved IntelliTec Security Services proposals to install door access-control hardware for the municipal yard (Phase 1 $49,562.93; Phase 2 $15,149.63; total $64,712.56) and a yard-building security system and Phase 3 access-control upgrades (first proposal $63,074.06; Phase 3 $56,518.86; total $119,592.92).
Recreation and parks equipment purchases were approved, including a Deep Tine Attachment ($29,397.96) and a Toro Ball Field Machine ($45,672.12) from Storr Tractor Company. The board also approved a plan to pursue a NY PLAYS grant for a proposed Ninja Warrior Course at St. Paul’s Athletic Complex (project cost $582,618; village 20% match $116,523.60; total grant request $466,094.40).
Most consent and procurement items were approved "on motion of Trustee Muldoon and unanimously carried," a recurring formulation in the minutes that reflects unanimous board consent on those items; the DPW masonry award was recorded specifically as AYES: 8, NOES: 0. Village staff confirmed funds are available in the accounts cited for each purchase or contract.
The board’s actions bundle several maintenance, security and capital investments intended to finish ongoing municipal projects and secure equipment before price increases for upcoming model years.
