The Malden School Committee took several routine and consequential votes during its Nov. 10 meeting. All votes were recorded by roll call and carried unanimously unless otherwise noted.
Minutes and warrants - The committee approved the Oct. 6 regular-session minutes and placed October warrants on file (motion by Mr. Bernard; roll-call approval).
Nature's Classroom trips - The committee approved overnight Nature's Classroom field trips proposed by the district for participating K–8 schools after a presentation by Assistant Superintendent Bassine and student testimony about the program's educational and social benefits.
Policy and donation - The committee suspended regular docket-posting rules to allow a same-night vote and adopted the IH AIA middle-school pathway exploration policy (unanimous roll-call). The committee also accepted a $500 donation from Kate Jim and St. John's Parish / the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Boston to the Malden High School Choral Arts Society.
Labor agreement and superintendent contract - Following an executive session on collective bargaining and personnel, the committee approved a memorandum of agreement with SEIU Local 888 cafeteria workers effective July 1 for three years and authorized the chair to sign. The committee also voted to authorize a contract amendment with the superintendent and authorized the chair to sign the attached amendment.
Adjournment - The meeting adjourned after the votes and routine announcements.
