Commissioners noted the system requires approximately 800 feet of 8-inch pipe in Horn Pond to reach a deeper intake location.
The commission emphasized that a dam inspection will be required and must be performed by certified personnel. Members discussed pursuing grants and potential partnerships with UMass to support the project, including the idea of recruiting a student grant writer to help applications. No formal action or funding decision occurred at the meeting; members agreed to pursue estimates and grant opportunities.
The commission will continue follow-up on road restoration, pipe procurement and arranging a certified dam inspection.
