Brookfield water officials plan auditor meeting to resolve reconciliations; sign hydrant bills

"What I would like to do is set up a meeting with the water commission and Lori and the auditor to set a path forward," the chair said, explaining the auditor had previously agreed to meet with commissioners in a smaller setting rather than at a public hearing. Members agreed that Holly and one or two commissioners should attend an auditor meeting to close out outstanding items.
At the meeting the commission approved or initialed vouchers and bills; among the invoices discussed were two entries tied to a hydrant replacement on Route 9 with a combined amount shown as $1,197. The chair said the hydrant had rotted and required a contractor and bypass work to keep the town's water supply functioning while replacement occurred.
The commission did not take formal disciplinary action or adopt an audit resolution in public session but directed staff to request the auditor meeting and work toward a reconciliation plan.
The meeting ended with a motion to adjourn at 11:42 that was seconded and carried.
