Councilor Joe Morin moved to authorize the City of Tower to accept "the Timber Sale Contract with the MN Department of Natural Resources and accept the bid from Mike Nielson Logging for the Timber Sale Bids attached for the City of Tower lands," and Councilor Robert Anderson seconded; the motion passed unanimously. That action formalizes the council’s acceptance of a DNR timber‑sale contract and the winning bid for logging on city lands.
The council also voted to give a small group authority to approve project change orders on the Water Treatment Facility. Councilor Morin moved to authorize Mayor David Setterberg, Clerk/Treasurer Michael Schultz and Wastewater System Operator Matt Tuchel, with Breitung Supervisor Tim Tomsich as an alternate, to approve Water Treatment Facility project change orders up to $75,000 "not to exceed the total contingency of the project, as long as the approval is unanimous." Councilor Joshua Zika seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
On civic‑facility spending, Councilor Robert Anderson moved to authorize purchase of a dishwasher for the Civic Center not to exceed $6,000 and to authorize Clerk/Treasurer Michael Schultz to work with the Civic/Women’s Club and accept any contribution they choose to offer; Councilor Joe Morin seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
All three motions recorded unanimous council approval. Present at the meeting were Mayor David Setterberg; Councilors Joe Morin, Robert Anderson, Joshua Zika and Kevin Norby; Clerk/Treasurer Michael Schultz; and MN DNR Forester Victoria Jari. The special meeting began at 4:30 PM and adjourned at 4:53 PM.
The council did not receive public comment at the meeting. The accepted timber sale and delegated authority for the water‑treatment project will be reflected in meeting minutes and any project files; the dishwasher purchase authorization allows staff to proceed with procurement up to the $6,000 limit and to apply any Civic/Women’s Club contribution toward the purchase.
The council approved the agenda at the start of the meeting and adjourned following the listed business.
