Commission approves native-plant revegetation plan for 797 Main Street coastal bank

The Tisbury Conservation Commission unanimously approved a plan June 2 to revegetate a bare coastal bank at 797 Main Street.
Trey Rasmussen of Contemporary Landscapes presented a native plant list and a rough diagram prepared by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates. Rasmussen said no machinery, irrigation or soil amendments will be used; plants will be hand-planted and excavated sand will be backfilled around the small plants. Planting is planned during a forecasted rain window to improve establishment. The goal is to stabilize the bank, clarify the property line and create habitat.
John Best moved to issue a negative determination, Sarah Toste seconded, and the vote was unanimous.
The commission recorded the planting plan and asked staff to ensure the planting window and species list are followed to protect coastal bank stability.
