The Board of Architectural Review tabled BAR26-20 on March 19 after hearing a presentation from applicant Steven Marshall about proposed replacement windows and siding at 21 Eastern Main Street.
Marshall said the house's windows were "really outdated" and that replacement with vinyl windows and vinyl or Hardy siding on side and rear elevations would address drafts and deterioration. He said he planned to keep the front elevation's wood appearance and paint or otherwise finish new front-facing windows to match the historic character. Marshall stated he would submit window dimensions and product details and said "I can have that submitted by Monday, the dimensions."
Board members emphasized preservation of visible elevations. One board member said, "the front should be wood," and another recommended that the three elevations visible from the street remain wood while the rear could be vinyl or Hardy. Staff suggested tabling if the board wanted to see precise window sizes and profiles; a motion to table was made and passed so the applicant can submit 2-over-2 window specifications for administrative or future board approval.
The tabling preserves the option for administrative approval if submitted drawings meet the board's expectations; the applicant said he would upload window specs to the application portal.
