Darien ARB issues favorable reports for multiple business sign proposals

On Dec. 16 the Darien Architectural Review Board issued favorable reports for signage proposals at Yale Urgent Care, Old King’s Market, Lykos Taverna, Wonder and BMW, approving sizes, lighting treatments and other conditions while asking for clarifications where noted.
The Darien Architectural Review Board on Dec. 16 issued favorable reports for several business signage proposals, approving a mix of in-kind replacements and modifications while specifying conditions on lighting, size and placement.
At 25 Old Kings Highway North, applicant K. Knobel presented a plan for Yale Urgent Care to use the existing sign band with raised letters; the proposal removed a prior red boxed surround and showed the words "Urgent Care" in red on a white background. The Board issued a favorable report with the stated stipulations and as presented.
Regency Centers representative Christina Gordon proposed a revised directory monument for Old King’s Market that would remove a secondary directory at the exit and enlarge the front directory to accommodate 27 tenant panels (up from 23). The revised monument will include ground up-lighting and was presented at 47.3 square feet total area, 7.5 feet in height and 9 feet 8 inches in width. The Board approved the modification with the listed stipulations.
For Lykos Taverna (110 Heights Road), K. Kane proposed two halo-lit wall signs and a blade sign; specified letter heights were 16 inches for "Lykos" and 8 inches for "Taverna" with 3,000K lighting. The Board issued a favorable report as presented.
Archer Signs’ B. Vasser presented a storefront sign package for Wonder (306 Boston Post Road) including an in-kind replacement front façade sign (green letters, 26 inches high, 133 inches wide) and proposed side signs. The Board approved the front wall sign, monument sign and side decals but did not support the proposed roof-mounted side signs; the Board also asked the applicant to specify how any drive-thru window changes will be handled.
T. Acuri presented an in-kind sign replacement for BMW at 136 Ledge Road. The Board approved a refreshed pole and wall sign but noted that the sign may not be internally illuminated; lighting was described as LED strip from above at 5,000 lumens.
The minutes show the Board issued a favorable report for each of these items with the listed stipulations. The Board also recorded an Administrative Certificate for Signature Cycles and approved the November 2025 minutes before adjourning at 8:46 P.M.
