Robert Carlstrom, chair of the Cityhood Committee, reported during the May 19 Sparta Village Council meeting that committee work on potential cityhood has progressed through pros and cons and procedural steps and that a draft financial analysis has been prepared but awaits final numbers.
Carlstrom told the council the committee will meet with township officials next week to reconcile assumptions and finalize the financial figures before providing an update to the public. He said May meetings were productive and the committee is close to finishing its work on the analysis.
The committee did not seek action by the full council at the May 19 meeting; members indicated a follow‑up report will be provided after the township meeting.
