Corydon council approves revised plan and engineering contract for new water tower

Nancy Buss of Hall Engineering presented the council with a final recommendation for the location of a proposed new water tower and asked for approval to submit construction approval to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. With the council’s approval, Buss said she would move forward with the DNR submission.
Councilor Dawn Christian moved to approve the revised preliminary engineering report; Councilor Chase Clark seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The council then approved a professional-services agreement with Hall Engineering for the water tower project. Buss told the council that funding for the agreement will be reimbursed by a planning and design loan from the State Revolving Loan Fund that has already been approved.
The approvals allow Hall Engineering to proceed with final design steps and DNR review. The council did not change the project's funding source at the meeting; the planned reimbursement through the State Revolving Loan was described as already approved. The city clerk previously reported other infrastructure and administrative transitions underway, including conversion to the Caselle accounting system.
Next steps include Hall Engineering submitting construction approval paperwork to the Iowa DNR and continuing project design work under the authorized agreement. Council members voted unanimously at each step.
