Corydon council approves grant application for pickleball conversion, buys pagers and OKs cemetery building quote

At its Aug. 13 meeting the Corydon City Council approved multiple community projects and purchases.
Stacy Gibbs, administrative city clerk, presented a Wayne Community Foundation Seeds for Success grant application to rehabilitate existing tennis courts into pickleball courts. Gibbs said the "total estimated project cost is $77,097.00 and the grant request is for $50,000." She asked the council to commit $5,197 of city funds to cover replacement light fixtures; the council approved the application and the local contribution unanimously.
The council also reviewed and approved a $17,000 quote for a new cemetery building after Gibbs said Bonita Wells at the Wayne Community Foundation confirmed the city could use the grant for a smaller structure. The motion to approve the $17,000 quote passed unanimously.
Fire Chief Josh Cobb reported the department lacked sufficient pagers and requested the purchase of 10 pagers for up to $1,250; the council approved the purchase. The council additionally approved a change order with Twisted Oak Tree Service LLC to add three right-of-way tree removals at a cost of $7,450 and a $2,000 funding pledge to the Chariton Valley Regional Housing Trust Fund.
Council approved a personnel matter: Resolution 2026-005 to increase Heidi Jones's wage by $1.00 per hour upon completion of two years of service on Aug. 28, as provided by her hire agreement. All motions passed with unanimous votes.
