Corydon council delays Hwy 2 rezoning hearing; reviews Oak Street repair plan

Mayor Nathan Bennett called the City of Corydon council to order on Aug. 13, and the council agreed to reschedule a public hearing on a proposed Hwy 2 East rezoning after city staff said required documents were not completed.
Stacy Gibbs, the administrative city clerk, told the council that "the city attorney has not yet gotten the required documents updated with the additional three properties to be added to the re-zoning. Therefore, the required meetings with the Planning and Zoning Commission could not be held. The rezoning action will have to be reset for a future date." The council opened and then closed the hearing without taking action.
The meeting then turned to Oak Street pavement concerns in the Northern Plains/Kading development. Chace Hauschilt and Mark Lee, representing the developer and the engineering firm, presented a repair plan that would replace sections of the street and fill cracking in others. "Bennett suggested that full panels be replaced instead of half panels," Mayor Bennett said during the discussion.
Council and staff emphasized inspection and warranty terms: once the repairs are completed and the city accepts the infrastructure, the city will hold a four-year warranty covering any issues. Public Works and Hall Engineering will meet with the developer representatives to review the planned repairs before work proceeds.
The council did not take a final policy vote on rezoning and set no specific new date during the meeting; the next regular meeting is Aug. 27, 2025.
