Administration presented the district’s goals, budget assumptions and related priorities for FY 2027 and walked the board through how the district translates approved strategic goals into resource allocations to inform the budget. The presentation was given as a first reading; administrators told the board a second reading and final vote are expected at a future meeting (the administration referenced Dec. 15 as the meeting for formal action).
The materials list five overarching goals—student performance, communication, teacher quality, school environment and safety, and stewardship of resources—and seek to align investment decisions with those priorities. A budget workshop was scheduled for the week following the Dec. 1 meeting to go into additional detail before the second reading.
Administrators also reviewed a draft 2027–28 district calendar: convocation on Aug. 26, professional learning days Aug. 27–30, and the first day of school on Aug. 31. They proposed adding the Monday after Easter in April as a day off to create a full break with the Easter weekend. The board discussed calendar logistics, last-day policy constraints and snow-day contingencies.
What’s next: Administrators will return the budget document for a second reading and vote; the board will consider the calendar again at the scheduled second reading or at a future meeting.
