Southeast Delco board honors retiring president, approves routine business and welcomes new kindergarten principal

The Southeast Delco School District Board of Directors on Thursday, June 25, 2026, formally recognized board president Mr. Butler on the occasion of his retirement and handled a series of routine approvals, including minutes, the treasurer's report and several personnel items.
Board members presented Mr. Butler with a token of appreciation and thanked him for his service. Mr. Butler responded, “Well, thank you very much for the opportunity. It has been a pleasure. It's a lot of hard work, but I like to be busy and a lot of hard work, so it's always rewarding to me. I appreciate it. Thank you very much.” Superintendent Dr. Ryan echoed the board’s gratitude and praised Butler’s guidance and “financial stewardship over the past few years.”
The board moved and approved the meeting agenda and the minutes of the May 28, 2026, regular meeting by voice votes. It also approved the treasurer's report and bills; the audio/transcript records the amount as “12,912,64210,” which is garbled and was not clarified during the meeting.
During consideration of human resources items the board noted the retirement of Susan Lee, identified in the meeting as a Title I instructional aide at Sharon Hill School with roughly 29 years of service. The board thanked Lee for her service.
The board also introduced the newly hired principal for the kindergarten center. The person invited to the microphone said, “My name is Danny Ruain. I am the newly crowned principal of the kindergarten center,” and thanked the board and central office for the opportunity.
Other routine agenda items — including education, finance, policy and property items listed on the board’s consent/agenda — were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The meeting closed with announcements of upcoming meetings and adjournment.
The board scheduled its Committee of the Whole for Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 6 p.m. and its next regular business meeting for Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 7 p.m.
