Corydon authorizes water tower IUP application, hears public works and clerk updates

Councilors on Nov. 26 authorized Mayor Nathan Bennett to allow Hall Engineering Company to submit an Intended Use Plan (IUP) application for a proposed Corydon water tower, advancing the project to the application stage.
Stacy Gibbs, the administrative city clerk, presented a corrected FY25 Annual Financial Report for submission by Dec. 1, 2025. Jacob Clark of public works reported that snowplows are ready for winter, that two water leaks had been repaired, and that the public works crew recently met with representatives of Kading Properties and Hall Engineering to discuss planned Oak Street repairs.
Fire Chief Cobb was not present; Gibbs briefly shared information about the Length of Service Award Program (LOSAP) and supplemental insurance for fire department members and said more information will be provided at a future meeting.
During general business, Councilor Dawn Christian said Kading Properties representative Karrie Ramsey contacted her about concerns with some newly constructed housing units and asked that prospective renters be allowed to see the actual unit before signing a lease. Councilor Kenny Holmes reported that East Penn extended the sidewalk on Highway 2 West and raised a separate concern about junk in front of an Area XIV housing unit on South Street. Mayor Bennett said he and Holmes meet weekly with the city crew to address ongoing maintenance concerns.
The council’s authorization for the water tower IUP does not itself award funding or grant final approval for construction; it permits Hall Engineering to pursue the application process.
