Council approves storm sewer relining contract pending IDOT approval

Public works official Jared Chambers told the council that IDOT had flagged possible undermining at the storm sewer and that the Subsurface bid would repair the cracked tube and include traffic control; Chambers noted more repairs will be required where undermining has occurred. Chambers was scheduled to meet the regional IDOT engineer on Aug. 28 to confirm whether relining is acceptable under IDOT rules.
Councilor Chase Clark moved to approve the Subsurface contract pending Chambers getting IDOT approval; Councilor Kyle Hampton seconded. The motion carried with all five councilors present voting in favor. The minutes record the contingency clearly: contract approval was conditioned on IDOT's concurrence. Further design, schedule and cost details beyond the relining quote were not recorded in the minutes.
