West Bridgewater school committee reorganizes officers and assigns subcommittees

The West Bridgewater School Committee on May 4 completed its annual reorganization, unanimously electing Robin Draanetti as chair, Carol Lazardi as vice chair and K Leach as clerk.

Members then filled seats on nine standing subcommittees. Draanetti and JP were appointed to the capital budget and facilities subcommittee and a motion to name Draanetti chair of that panel passed without recorded opposition. The personnel and negotiations subcommittee was populated with Perry and Lexi Conary, with Perry appointed to chair that subcommittee. JP and Cara were named to the warrant and budget subcommittee, and the committee said a later vote would designate the signatory and chair for that group. The committee also appointed Harry as the safe schools representative with Cara as alternate and named Lexi Paul Mary as donations-and-grants representative.

In a separate motion, the committee designated Carol Lazardi as the single signatory for bill and payroll warrants under policy DGA; the committee indicated it will reopen the policy at a later meeting to consider an alternate signatory.

All of the routine appointments and motions were brought, seconded and approved by voice vote. The chair described these actions as necessary to ensure continuity across committee workstreams and noted several members had discussed preferences for committee assignments prior to the meeting.

The committee also approved routine housekeeping items including the minutes from April 6 and April 15 and several amended minutes from March, and accepted the warrants report for April showing multiple bill and payroll warrant amounts on record.

The next regular school committee meeting is scheduled for June 8 at 6 p.m. at the Middle Senior High School Learning Commons.
