The City of Chicopee Council on Aging unanimously approved its fiscal report for December at the Jan. 14 meeting, the minutes say.
Staff reported the café generated a $1,790 profit in December and the meal program posted a $691 profit, with 702 meal tickets sold and 2,696 meals served in the period reported. Staff noted Election Day was especially busy and the café sold out early.
Finance discussion noted underspending in lines for the wellness nurse and the program assistant because those positions are vacant. The minutes state that, because of staffing challenges, staff moved to paying overtime rather than offering comp time for added hours; the transcript records the motion but does not record a vote or final outcome on that change.
Staff said a substantial amount of 'Formula' funds remain undelivered. Grant activity includes a CDBG application in development to support the exercise program, which the minutes say required an extra $10,000 in local funds last year. The minutes also note that a Senior Planet-related grant is allowing a staff member named Jona to update some technology and that the center purchased "AI goggles" for classes. Country Bank provided funding for the holiday party, and a Community Transit grant will fund the next van expected in June.
The fiscal report circulated to members was described as "on-target and healthy," and the minutes record unanimous approval of the report. The board approved the report without a recorded roll call.
