Select Board agrees to schedule hearings on Dexter nuisance designation and Sasha jurisdiction

The Carlisle Select Board on July 22 agreed to schedule two dog hearings: one to reconsider the nuisance designation for Dexter (reviewed in 2021) at the owners' request, and a separate proceeding to determine whether Carlisle has jurisdiction in the Sasha incident involving a Lowell resident.
Board members David Model and Barney Arnold, who served on the original Dexter hearing, expressed support for holding a reconsideration because the dog’s behavior may have improved. On the Sasha matter, Model emphasized the board’s duty to hear the case because a Carlisle resident’s dog was allegedly killed in the incident; the Board noted the first issue is whether the dog was kept in Carlisle at the time of the incident.
The board agreed to set hearing dates at its August 12 meeting and accepted Vice Chair Arnold’s offer to chair the hearings. No hearing dates or final determinations were made at the July 22 meeting.
