Melissa Silverman, the regional nurse, presented the monthly report and outlined multiple public health activities planned for the fall.
Melissa said July work included planning for CPR trainings (Taunton in August; Rehoboth in September), a wellness fair in September, glucose screenings at the Berkley Council on Aging, a Taunton flu vaccine clinic, and participation in a Community Baby Shower event in Taunton. She reported attending a NARCAN event and providing support in MAVEN and TB consultations.
Melissa stated the region received CLIA certification for glucose and blood pressure point-of-care testing. Geri Hamel and Michelle Borello will attend training on device use; Erika Syokau and Melissa will order additional test strips and controls to support those services. The group also discussed staff training and the sharing of testing resources among municipalities.
Melissa’s updates were accepted as part of regional staff reports; staff will circulate links to point-of-care testing resources and the regional testing team.
