Board briefs voters on budget referendum and records staff resignations
Summary
Superintendent reviewed a one-page budget summary for the upcoming 2025-26 referendum and outlined outreach plans; personnel report recorded the resignation of Kelsey Hamel (effective June 30, 2025) and noted a separate resignation by the district IT coordinator.
The superintendent provided the board and public with a one-page summary of the adopted 2025–26 budget and outlined plans to distribute that summary to the three sending towns’ town halls, to feeder elementary districts and to local media ahead of the upcoming referendum.
Meeting materials described the summary as a one-page “cheat sheet” highlighting budget increases, district priorities and steps taken to reduce the proposed increase. The presentation said copies will be made available in the towns of Hebron, Andover and Marlboro and in school buildings that feed into Region 8, and that staff plan additional public communication in the week before the referendum.
On personnel, the board received a personnel report noting that Kelsey Hamel, a special-education teacher at RAM High School, has resigned effective June 30, 2025, after employment with the district since August 2015. Meeting participants also noted the recent resignation of IT coordinator Scott Budson; administrators said the IT resignation was received by email shortly before the meeting and had not been included in the printed personnel report.
The meeting included no formal vote on the budget itself (that vote occurs at referendum). Administrators said they will continue public outreach and provide updated financial estimates once the state posts additional information expected in June.
