Corydon council approves conveyance resolution, playground purchase, sets rezoning hearing and other routine measures

Corydon — At its Oct. 22 meeting the Corydon City Council approved a series of routine agenda items, including a property conveyance to Wayne County, park improvements, event street closures and a package of project and hearing actions.
The council opened and closed a public hearing on the conveyance of real property to Wayne County with no public comments and then approved Resolution 2026-016 to convey the property (motion by Councilor Dawn Christian). The vote was unanimous among Councilors Christian, Clark, Hampton and Wolfe; Councilor Kenny Holmes was absent.
Other approvals included a street closure for the Assembly of God Church’s Beggars Night event on Oct. 25 (motion by Bryan Wolfe), a request to allow an entertainment group at Lily’s Sports Bar (moved by Dawn Christian), and a purchase of additional playground equipment for Lake Park for $16,376.45 using grant funds (moved by Dawn Christian). The council also approved Resolution 2026-015 to set a public hearing on rezoning portions of Highway 2 East for Nov. 12, 2025 at 5:30 p.m.
For public works, the council approved a letter of engagement with law firm Ahlers & Cooney for the South Street Rehabilitation project in the amount of $11,310 and approved Resolution 2026-019 appointing a Special Assessment Committee for that project (motions by Chase Clark and Kyle Hampton, respectively). Committee reports were not presented.
Financials and claims: the clerk presented unpaid and prepaid bills and a claims list across funds; the grand total shown on the claims listing was $34,510.04. Major line items included a $3,815 allocation to WRD Solid Waste Commission and several water and sewer-related vendor charges.
The council set its next regular meeting for Nov. 12, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. and adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
