Corydon council tables Oak Street repair plan pending core-sample report and attorney review

The Corydon City Council on Sept. 24 tabled action on a proposed Oak Street repair plan for the Kading housing development until its Oct. 8 meeting, saying it needed engineering test results and legal review before approving work.
Mark Lee of Lee Chamberlain Engineering told the council that core samples had been taken from Oak Street and "were tested by Construction Materials Testing in Des Moines," and said the firm would provide the lab results. The repair plan presented calls for removing the sections identified and re-pouring 7-inch concrete for roughly 30% of Oak Street, according to the engineering summary provided to the council.
Councilors asked that the core-sample report be emailed to City Clerk Stacy Gibbs and Public Works Director Jared Chambers and said they wanted an opportunity to review the tests and consult the city attorney before making any decision. Councilor Chase Clark moved to table the matter until the Oct. 8, 2025 council meeting; Councilor Dawn Christian seconded the motion, which carried unanimously (Christian, Clark, Hampton, Holmes, Wolfe).
The tabling means the council will not authorize repairs or contract work until the engineering data and legal implications of the development agreement are reviewed. The Oct. 8 meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Corydon City Hall.
