Calera schedules budget work sessions July 22–Aug. 18, staff to distribute proposed budget July 21

City staff told the Calera City Council that the proposed budget will be distributed after the council meeting on July 21, and that the council should plan budget work sessions on Mondays from July 22 through Aug. 18 to allow department heads to present their requests in three rounds. "I would like to do the budget work session starting Monday, July 22nd and every Monday through Monday, August 18th," a staff member (Stacy) said.
Under the proposed schedule, the first session would begin at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 22, with subsequent meetings after council meetings on the next two Mondays and a final session on Aug. 18. Staff said the pattern is intended so departments have opportunities to present and answer questions across three meetings. The staff member asked council members to advise of conflicts so the schedule can be placed on the next agenda.
The council did not take a formal vote in the work session; staff asked to place the schedule on the next meeting agenda and to confirm any member conflicts before formally adopting the dates.
