At the March 26 meeting, first-grade teacher Carrie Blackmar and 8th-grade science teacher Jill Zangerl described a recent cross-grade learning experience in which first graders visited the Killingly Intermediate School planetarium to learn about stars, planets and constellations. The teachers said 8th-grade students led first graders on tours of the building and that both teachers and students asked to schedule additional planetarium learning sessions.
Board Chairperson Susan Lannon also recognized J. Lepire as the March 2025 Employee of the Month, praising Lepire’s oversight of budget processes, ties to the community and teamwork in administrative roles at KIS.
The board did not take formal action on the showcase item beyond the recognition and encouragement to continue collaborative activities.
