Killingly Board authorizes contracts for two principals, effective July 1, 2025

The Killingly Board of Education on March 26 authorized the superintendent to enter into contracts with two school principals to take effect July 1, 2025, following an executive-session interview of finalists.
Misty Murdock moved and Kelly Martin seconded a motion to authorize Superintendent Susan Nash to contract with Carrie Apanovitch as principal of Killingly High School; the motion carried unanimously. Later, Kyle Napierata moved and Misty Murdock seconded a motion authorizing Nash to contract with Matt Sierakowski as principal of Killingly Intermediate School; that motion also passed unanimously.
Board members held an executive session earlier in the meeting to interview finalists; the board invited Superintendent Nash, Assistant Superintendent Jeff Guiot, Kim Burnham and Student Board Member Melody Hutchinson to participate in the interviews. Finalists were interviewed individually, and the board returned to open session before taking the authorization votes.
The motions give the superintendent authority to finalize contracts; the board did not discuss individual contract terms at the public meeting. Both appointments are slated to begin on July 1, 2025.
The board adjourned routine business after approving the personnel authorizations.
