Committee approves science-lab furnishings, sets painting start and site-prep tasks

The LCS Science Room Building Committee unanimously approved purchases June 23 to outfit Lisbon Central School’s science lab, and set immediate site-preparation tasks including a painting start on June 26.

A motion by Ray Joly, seconded by A. Thibeault, approved the purchase of lab furnishings totaling $8,286.33 (an ADA demonstration table for $2,055.00; a tote cart for $2,139.00; two open-shelf storage units at $1,341 each totaling $2,682.00; and shipping of $1,410.33) and a Permitium board with associated hardware for $3,205.00. The committee recorded a unanimous vote in favor of the purchases.

The committee reviewed the remaining schedule: with demolition largely complete, painting will begin Friday, June 26, 2026; ceiling tiles and grid work, radiator cleaning, and A/C unit cleaning and belt/filter replacement will follow. The minutes note the air-conditioning unit is currently in working order. The general contractor was asked to provide a more detailed projected schedule with dates for the remainder of the project.

R. Baah will take photographs of the ceiling before the gridwork is replaced to document positioning of items above the grid and will arrange committee access to the school for inspections. Committee members decided door jamb color and noted that window film "may not be compatible" with existing science-lab windows because of potential overheating; the committee instructed that all science-lab windows be measured before any film is purchased or installed. A special meeting on July 7 was mentioned as a possibility if additional decisions are required.

The approved furnishings and planned site work are intended to keep the project on track for the next installation phases.
