Sparta council approves boundary resolution, POW/MIA day, appointments, zoning change and $1.09M in payables
Summary
Council approved Resolutions 25-11, 25-12, 25-13 and Ordinance 25-02 (all 7–0), and approved July payables totaling $1,085,991.56; the Village Manager reported progress on infrastructure projects and wastewater bond closings.
At its Aug. 18 meeting the Village of Sparta Council approved several routine actions and received department reports.
Resolutions approved included Res. 25-11 (a resolution of intent to alter village boundaries), Res. 25-12 (designating Sept. 19, 2025 as POW/MIA Recognition Day) and Res. 25-13 (appointing the Wastewater Board of Appeals). The council also approved Ordinance 25-02 to amend the Sparta zoning map. Each of those motions passed unanimously, 7–0.
The council approved July payables as presented; the listed fund totals produced a grand total of $1,085,991.56. Informational totals for several special funds were listed at $38,991.21.
In department reports the Village Manager said a new complex remains on schedule, the Police Department roof is nearly complete, Town Square project bids were within range and a kickoff is planned for early September, staff are finalizing the cityhood report, and the village is preparing to close bonds for the wastewater treatment project. A preconstruction meeting for North State Street from Division to O’Connor, with a detour into the Sports Park, was also announced.
No public hearings or executive sessions were held during the meeting.
