Board reviews new policies for library materials complaints and collection management

Administration said the policies are being customized from sample language provided by "Cave" (the district's policy service), with legal vetting provided in the sample templates, and that local tweaks will be made to meet district needs. Board members asked procedural questions about how much the district customizes sample policies and whether attorneys vet final language.
What happens next: these policies will return for a second review at the next board meeting; the district will continue to refine the draft forms with the library association and report any legal changes.
