Concord Cultural Council adopts mission statement, approves minutes and confirms schedule

The Concord Cultural Council on March 19, 2026, unanimously approved a new mission statement and confirmed meeting dates and event logistics during a Zoom meeting chaired by Tooey Rogers.
After members discussed three draft statements prepared by Ed Bernard, Robert Gross and Leda Zimmerman, the council approved the following mission language: “We believe that arts and culture can inspire creativity, foster economic vitality, and bring a community together. Mindful of Concord’s unique contributions to American history and literature, the Concord Cultural Council provides funding to achieve these goals.” The motion to adopt the statement passed without opposition.
The council also took up and unanimously approved the minutes from its March 11, 2026 meeting.
Members were reminded that the state Open Meeting Law requires in-person voting rather than email ballots; the council noted that members who cannot attend should send their votes to the chair. The body confirmed meeting dates for April 8, May 13 and June 10, 2026, and acknowledged that Robert Gross will be unable to attend the April 8 meeting.
The meeting opened at 3:00 p.m. and adjourned at 3:55 p.m. The minutes were prepared and filed by Barbara Ewen, scribe.
