The Dartmouth Planning Board on June 22 approved a site plan for a Big Y tenant at 57 Front Corner Mall Road after staff and the applicant confirmed revisions addressed prior planning and DPW concerns.
Planning staff (Dan) said the revised plans, dated June 16, 2026, removed a section of faded parking spaces that affected setback requirements, added notes identifying outdoor merchandise display areas and clarified signage mounting, and corrected map, lot and unit numbering. Dan told the board DPW concerns had been addressed and that staff recommended the board grant a certificate of action if it chose to do so.
James Downing of Hour Associates, representing the engineering team, and Chris Elliott of Big Y said they worked with planning staff and DPW and submitted revised plans the Tuesday before the meeting. "The comments we got the last time we were here, we've addressed, working with Dan and the planning staff," Downing said.
Board members thanked the applicants for responding to prior comments. Helio moved to approve the site plan; Kevin Estes seconded. The motion passed unanimously (Helio: yes; Kevin/Estes: yes; Margaret: yes; Lori-Ann: yes). During the vote the applicant indicated a projected opening of "May of 27"; the year was not specified in the meeting record.
The board did not record construction phasing or permit dates in the transcript. Staff will follow up on final administrative steps and any required permits.
