The superintendent announced a joint convention with the city council to appoint the replacement for the Heidi Matthews seat on Oct. 6, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. Residents who wish to be considered must submit a letter of intent to the superintendent's office by Sept. 26 and must attend the Oct. 6 convention; appointees must be Marlborough residents and may not be municipal employees.
On the SEIU cafeteria worker contract (2025'1028) the committee moved to table the approval until the next meeting to allow members time to review packet materials; the motion carried (reported as five to one). No final contract vote occurred.
The committee approved multiple donations by voice vote, including hygiene supplies valued around $1,000, Okconor portraits ($522.10), US Sports and Apparel ($45.60), Henry Sheen Dental backpacks and school supplies, First Church donations of backpacks and supplies, and a Cradles to Crayons donation of 200 backpacks (stated value $3,000). Each donation was moved, seconded and approved.
What happens next: Candidates must submit letters of intent by Sept. 26 to be considered at the Oct. 6 joint convention; the SEIU contract will return to the committee with additional materials before a vote; staff will publish documentation of accepted donations in committee records.
