The personnel committee voted to approve the appointment of Colleen F. Marinelli to the Parks and Recreation Commission during its March 16 meeting. Chair called the committee to order and read a letter from Mayor Jay Christian Dumis nominating Marinelli for a three-year term ending Feb. 28, 2029.
Marinelli was introduced to the committee and described in the mayor’s letter as the founder of a youth track program. Councilor Ducet asked about Marinelli’s professional background after noting several technology company names; Marinelli explained she works in endpoint and observability software and clarified the role of vendors she listed, saying, “Tanium is a cyber security company dealing with endpoint management … Riverbed … is software, observability, AI ops.” That exchange led members to note Marinelli’s communications degree and community experience.
Several councilors praised Marinelli’s volunteer work and willingness to serve. A motion to approve the appointment was made, seconded and carried; the committee voted to forward the nomination to the full City Council for final approval. The committee adjourned the personnel portion at about 6:20 p.m.
The action is procedural: the committee’s approval sends the nomination to the full council, which will take the final vote.
