Marlborough panel approves Angela House as assistant superintendent for teaching and learning

The Marlborough Public School Committee voted to approve a contract appointing Witcom Middle School principal Angela House as the district’s new assistant superintendent for teaching and learning.

The superintendent recommended Mrs. Angela House after a “thorough search process,” saying House is an alum and a 15-year educator in the district whose leadership has driven transformation at the middle school. "She is deeply dedicated as both an educator and a leader within our school system," the superintendent said when announcing the recommendation.

Mrs. Angela House thanked the hiring committee and the mayor and called the appointment an honor. "As I step into this position, I've been thinking a lot about goals and it's really one simple goal, just to keep getting better because when our schools get better, our community gets better," House said.

A committee member moved to suspend the rules to take up the contract and then moved to approve the contract for the assistant superintendent role; both motions carried by voice vote. Committee members offered congratulatory remarks before and after the approval.

The district packet includes Mrs. House's resume. The committee did not record individual roll-call tallies in the transcript for the contract vote; the clerk announced the result as "motion carries." The approval was followed immediately by the communications and budget items on the agenda.
