Silver Bow County Airport board approves routine financial items, hears multi-project update

Member Jay Doyle moved to approve the minutes from April 1, 2026; Vice Chairman Hattie Thatcher seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Doyle also moved to accept the bills as presented; Thatcher seconded and that motion passed unanimously. Airport Manager Pam Chamberlin presented the March 31 financial statements; Doyle moved to approve them, Thatcher seconded and the board approved the financials unanimously.
Cory Kesler of MMI briefed the board on Airport Improvement Program (AIP) projects. Kesler said delivery of AIP 77 snow-removal equipment is scheduled for June 2026. Work on AIP 78, a security gate project, has begun and is estimated to finish by the end of June. AIP 79 and AIP 80 — covering runway maintenance, LED lighting on Runway 15 and rehabilitation of the commercial apron — are awaiting contractor scheduling, and the bid opening for AIP 81 ramp rehabilitation is planned for June.
Chamberlin told the board the hangar construction project has begun and that structural steel is scheduled for delivery on July 6, 2026. She also notified members of an upcoming Federal Aviation Administration inspection; no dates or further details were specified during the meeting.
Airport staff member Rick Ryan said helibase operations will begin this month, attributing the timing to an unusually dry winter that has advanced local wildfire-season preparations.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Jim Beauchamp at 12:02 p.m. and adjourned at 12:16 p.m. No public comments or correspondence were recorded at the session.
