The Flowood Board of Aldermen handled a series of administrative actions across its July 5 and July 18 meetings, approving consent agendas, personnel recommendations and a development plat.
On July 5 the board unanimously approved a consolidated consent agenda that included approval of multiple claims dockets, authorization to sell an issued sidearm in compliance with state statute, an application for a Zavation, LLC Freeport exemption under Mississippi Code §27-31-51 et seq., and authorization for the fire department to apply for 2016 Mississippi Department of Homeland Security equipment grant funds. That same meeting approved two fire department promotions (Justin Armstrong to Fire Captain Step 6; Brian Wells to Fire Lieutenant Step 6), the hire of Jason Robb as a patrolman (Step 10), and the final plat for Kensington Phase 1.
At the July 18 meeting the board approved the FY2017 Mississippi Office of Highway Safety (MOHS) grant for $50,718.00 (local governmental resolution agreement and authorization to proceed) as part of the consent agenda. The board also approved hiring Andrew Carcich as Private II Step 1 (Combat Division) in the fire department and promoted Aaron Messer from corporal to sergeant in the police department (Step 12+). All personnel and consent‑agenda actions recorded in the minutes passed unanimously unless otherwise noted in the timeline.
