Given town familiarity with the lower-cost vendor and the large spread in price, councilors favored the lower bid and moved to approve that contractor for initial service; the motion was seconded and recorded as moving forward in the meeting. Staff said the total initial service cost would be the lower quote plus any subsequent repairs to pumps or motors discovered during the work.
The council directed staff to schedule the work promptly and to ensure testing to verify the wells meet standards after cleaning. Staff noted compliance deadlines associated with the town's wellhead protection plan and an April 30 date related to wellhead planning paperwork.
