Business Manager Sara Howley told the Sterling Board of Education on May 21 that unexpected maintenance expenses and higher electricity costs have tightened the district’s Fiscal Year 2024–2025 outlook, and she urged trustees to continue close monitoring of remaining operating and grant funds.
Howley presented the district’s budget and expense report and noted unplanned maintenance work and rising utilities as primary near-term pressures. According to her update, the administration plans to use remaining operating dollars together with grant funds where appropriate to cover needs while continuing to assess the year-end position.
Trustee Victoria Robinson-Lewis moved to approve the Budget and Expense Report as presented; John Brady seconded. The board recorded the vote as "All in favor" and the motion passed. The minutes do not record individual roll-call tallies.
The board had earlier approved a consent agenda of routine minutes and administrative reports. Trustees said they will continue to review budget-to-actual reports and any emerging large maintenance items before the fiscal year closes.
