Property concerns at 22 Dorothy Ave. referred for public hearing after resident complaints

Councilor Mary Beth Pniak-Costello raised a referral request at the Jan. 30 Public Works Committee after a resident, William Guyette, emailed concerns about overgrowth, trash and property upkeep at several homes on Dorothy Avenue, including 22 Dorothy Ave.
"This has been an ongoing issue for a long time," Pniak-Costello said, citing Mr. Guyette by name as the resident who raised the matter in an email that is part of the public record. Building Commissioner Frank Boron told the committee the three properties cited (14, 22 and 27 Dorothy Ave.) are routinely monitored by building and health staff and that he planned to drive by and inspect conditions.
Boron noted concerns about vehicles parked on lawns and potential auto repair activity at No. 27 but said staff need proof to take enforcement action. The committee voted to refer the property at 22 Dorothy Ave. for a public hearing by the Public Works Committee and placed the record on file.
No enforcement decision was made at the meeting; staff will continue monitoring and will schedule a hearing as appropriate.
