He noted nearby demolition tied to the Cameron Square project and that the structure is visible from East Piccadilly and an adjacent vacant parcel.
A speaker who is identified earlier in the record as Charlie Chancellor told the board he has “been there 25 years,” described fencing and construction that now restrict access to the building, and said removing the dilapidated structure would be “complimentary” to Cameron Square and improve the street view. When asked about reasons for demolition beyond disrepair, the speaker reiterated that the building has no current use and is difficult to access because of the fencing and new construction.
A staff member noted the board had previously approved demolition of this structure roughly five years earlier as part of the Cameron Square application and said a current approval would be a clear administrative action if granted.
Board member (mover) made the motion to approve BAR 2-6-8 as submitted; the motion was seconded by the Chair and passed by voice vote with all present voting "aye." The board then proceeded to old business.
The applicant listed in the public record is Sherry Russell; the record shows Russell as the requester but the public speaker during the hearing was the individual identified earlier as Charlie Chancellor. No members of the public signed up separately during the hearing.
