Agency that serves older residents asks Carroll City for $6,000 to sustain local services

Emily, director of Lifelong Links at Elderbridge Agency on Aging, told the council the agency served 189 Carroll City residents in 2025 and is asking Carroll City for a $6,000 contribution to continue local services.

Emily summarized local program impacts: 26 residents received in‑home services totaling $5,810 and the Carroll meal site provided about 9,650 meals with Elderbridge contributing $57,653. She said the agency’s 29‑county service area is seeing growing demand while state and federal funding declines, making local partnerships more important. "Elderbridge is requesting $6,000 from the city of Carroll to continue serving residents of the town," she told the council.

Council members asked operational questions about how meals are prepared (St. Anthony), volunteer delivery, the agency’s funding sources (state and federal grants), the newness of city requests compared with county support and the office location on Court Street. Emily said contributions from the city would be used exclusively for Carroll clients and described the agency’s broader service set (meal delivery, in‑home personal care, chore services such as snow removal and lawn care, and helping clients arrange paid services when Medicare does not cover costs).

Council members said the city will consider the request as part of the upcoming budget process.
