The Colona Planning Commission voted to recommend a city slogan to the city council after reviewing results from a public contest.
The commission reviewed the contest tallies and a staff summary showing strong community engagement. Commissioners moved and seconded a motion to approve the winning slogan — which board members identified during the meeting as "rooted in community and growing with purpose" — and to forward the recommendation to the city council for final approval.
During the roll call on the motion, Mayor Johnson, Brett Jackson, Ben Wyatt, Tory Lutz and Sherry Powell voted in favor. Two members were recorded as absent. Staff said the item will appear on council’s calendar for committee-of-the-whole consideration in August and final adoption at a subsequent council meeting.
Commissioners also discussed acknowledging contest participation and anonymized prize distribution for winners. No public comments were recorded on the contest during the meeting.
