Commissioners agreed editors should return revisions by July 1 so staff can prepare the draft and the city clerk can meet the paper and posting timelines. "So everything's got to be to you no later than end of this month," one participant said, urging a prompt turnaround.
The commission discussed venue choices (Scott Park vs. a school gym) and concluded Scott Park would likely be sufficient based on expected turnout, though several members said they hope for broad public attendance. To avoid a rushed process, commissioners also proposed extending the consultant’s contract with Bike Santa Fe by one month — an administrative change staff said would be simple and require council approval.
If the commission recommends adoption after the public hearing, staff said the item would go to committee of the whole and then to council in August; staff flagged committee-of-the-whole consideration for Aug. 10 with a council adoption slot available later in the month. Commissioners asked staff to circulate the legal-ad sample and to confirm exact publication deadlines with the newspaper that handles city notices.
