Snellville honors youth leader Day Kibbe; Youth Council director delivers final report

Mayor Barbara Bender read Proclamation 2026‑12 to recognize Day Kibbe for his leadership with the Snellville Youth Council and to applaud his academic and community achievements. The proclamation noted Kibbe’s graduation from Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology and his plans to attend the University of Georgia.
Esther, the Youth Council director, gave a final report on the group’s activities from February through June 2026. She described a February visit to the Georgia State Capitol where members were recognized by a legislative resolution, the March Money March financial‑literacy program featuring a speaker from United Community Bank, and sustained planning and execution of the Juneteenth Unity Day celebration, which included a unity tree project and student‑led event logistics.
Esther said the Youth Council recorded 54 applicants for the upcoming year — the largest applicant pool since 2016 — and stressed the program’s focus on leadership development and civic engagement. "Their hard work and dedication culminated in another successful Juneteenth Unity Day event for our community," she said.
Councilmembers and the mayor praised Esther and Youth Council volunteers for their work and congratulated Day Kibbe on the proclamation.
