Trustees discuss new-library planning, form grant committee and consider relocating commemorative rock

Trustees at the Nov. 13 meeting discussed planning steps for a new library and agreed to form a New Library Grant Committee to pursue grant funding now that building design is becoming clearer.
The board considered moving a commemorative rock donated by the Raleigh family and the library’s flagpole to the new site; trustees said TSKP will be advised about those plans. Sue Brofman updated the board on Building Committee activities.
Trustees reviewed recent fundraising and programs: a Pumpkin Painting class drew seven children and staff said greater coordination with the school is needed to improve attendance; the New England Ghosts program was well attended and community member Jonah Knight offered to help with a fundraising event. The Trunk-or-Treat event raised $155 and a sweatshirt raffle brought in $300; trustees noted the next raffle will be for kitchen items.
Trustees also discussed practical operations tied to the building transition: the library’s printer is currently down and new computers are pending, and staffing needs, hours and pay-schedule questions were raised. The board tentatively set the 2026 Library Fair for July 18 and confirmed that Safe Serve coverage will be in place for food service at the fair.
