Grant County Health Council reports senior outreach, opioid resources and transportation mapping

Miss Sima, representing the Grant County Community Health Council, briefed the commission on the council’s recent activities and partnerships. She said the council led statewide convenings, hosted and planned senior‑health and resource fairs in local senior centers, coordinated Narcan distribution and trainings at area venues, and provided suicide‑prevention (QPR) and Mental Health First Aid trainings with local partners.
Sima said the council joined the statewide opioid remediation collaborative (which the council and county joined earlier this year), enabling access to resources — including apps and tools — the local council cannot develop independently. She also described the transportation‑resource mapping initiative, data collection at senior centers, and outreach to stakeholders; she said the council expects to launch the resource map in May and invited commissioners to the next health‑council meeting on April 16.
The presentation emphasized collaborative efforts with schools (school health advisory councils), behavioral‑health stakeholder committees and regional listening sessions related to the Behavioral Health Reform and Investment Act. Commissioners thanked the council and asked follow‑up questions; Sima said materials and the meeting link would be distributed to commissioners and the public.
