Cochran council approves Holt Consulting for airport engineering services

The Cochran City Council voted unanimously on April 8 to approve Holt Consulting for airport engineering services after the Airport Authority recommended the firm.
Airport Manager Jim Washburn told the council that, as airport sponsor, the city cannot itself let certain contracts under Federal Aviation Administration rules and that two firms responded to the solicitation. Washburn said the submission from Goodwin Mills K-Wood was incomplete at the April 4 deadline and therefore was eliminated from consideration; the Airport Authority recommended Holt Consulting.
Council Member Lonnie Tedders moved to award the engineering services contract to Holt Consulting; Council Member Gary Ates seconded the motion, which passed by unanimous approval.
Washburn noted that the services contract would prevent Holt from bidding on related airport work, consistent with procurement restrictions discussed at the meeting. No dollar amount for the contract was provided in the discussion on April 8.
