The New Milford Board of Education on May 19 approved the district’s Budget Position dated April 30, 2026, Purchase Resolution D‑806 and a package of budget transfers, and heard from Superintendent Dr. Janet Parlato that the approved 2026–27 budget will allow the district to fill positions prior to summer.
On the monthly finance reports the Board approved the Budget Position dated April 30, 2026, Purchase Resolution D‑806 and the request for budget transfers on a motion from Mr. Brian McCauley, seconded by Mr. Dean Barile; the motion passed unanimously.
Dr. Parlato told the Board the approved 2026–27 budget "gives an opportunity to hire candidates before the summer break." She also provided year‑end context, reporting the district was 97.25% expended and saying that after the ESG payment, a 2% set‑aside repayment and the turf‑field payment, the residue will be directed to the Capital Reserve.
The employment report indicated only a few resignations; Dr. Parlato told the Board that reductions in force affected two secondary positions and four K‑5 positions and that the current budget will permit backfilling open posts.
Outcome: the budget position, resolution and transfers were approved unanimously. The Board did not identify additional budgetary votes at the meeting.
