New Milford BOE reallocates funds, approves A&E contract and several capital grants

Director of Fiscal Services Anthony Giovannone told the board that funds originally budgeted for a CNA program—left unfilled because an instructor could not be sourced—would be transferred to pay for Phase 1 architectural and engineering (A&E) work for the NMHS culinary program. The board approved the Budget Position dated Jan. 31, 2026 and the Revised Purchase Resolution D‑803, and authorized the requested budget transfers unanimously.
On procurement, Director of Facilities Matthew Cunningham explained that the successful RFP for NMHS Culinary A&E (E‑2526‑002) includes field verification (estimated at about $13,500) and scope items such as schematics, programming and cost estimating; the board awarded the bid unanimously. Cunningham also reported that the previously posted NMHS tennis‑court solicitation was canceled due to inconsistencies in bids and will be reissued as a reconstruction‑only RFP aligned to USTA standards.
Technology and grants: Director of Technology Jeffrey Turner summarized CEN Wi‑Fi grant Rounds #1 and #2 (first‑year award about $145,000, non‑matching) and reported three bids for E‑Rate network access points covering five schools (estimated 60% discount). The board approved acceptance of the CEN grant update unanimously.
