Cook City Council adopts Gallagher pay-schedule Option 6, approves pay grades

The Cook City Council voted March 20 to adopt the Gallagher pay-schedule Option 6 and approved the city’s presented pay grades at a special meeting held at the Cook Community Center.
Mayor Daniel Manick opened the meeting and said the purpose was to finalize the wage schedule from Gallagher so the consultant could complete the process and submit final information. Council members each stated their preferred pay-structure option. Councilor Jess Scofield said, “Option #4 with 12 years being the mid-point.” Councilor Liza Root said she favored “Option #4 with 12 years being the mid-point, but open to Option #6.” Mayor Manick said he supported Option 4 and suggested locking in at three years and reevaluating later. Councilors Ron Bushbaum and Jody Bixby both favored Option 6.
Councilor Jess Scofield moved to accept and approve MIT Option #4; the motion received no second and failed. Councilor Jody Bixby then moved, and Councilor Liza Root seconded, a motion to accept and approve MIT Option #6. The motion carried: Yeas — Mayor Daniel Manick and Councilors Liza Root, Ron Bushbaum and Jody Bixby; Nay — Councilor Jess Scofield.
The council also approved the city’s proposed pay grades. Councilor Jess Scofield moved to accept and approve the pay grades as presented; Councilor Jody Bixby seconded and the motion carried (the minutes do not record a roll-call tally for that vote).
Following the votes, the minutes record that Gallagher will finalize the wage schedule and submit the final information to the city. The meeting adjourned at 5:45 PM.
